School is out and summer is upon us. This is an exciting time of year for kids, parents, and families!
During the summer months, there is much fun to be had, much goodness to share and great enjoyment to savor. I’m sure you have many fun and enjoyable plans, and, of course, I suggest that journal keeping be on your list of summer activities. Below are two family focused journal keeping ideas for you to enjoy. They are simple, easy and fun.
JOURNALING TIP #1
For those of you with tweens (girls or boys), please see my latest article “How Journaling Helps Your Pre-Teen with Social Skills.” You’ll find some wonderful journal keeping ideas you can use this summer with your kids, such as eliminating self-doubt, improving confidence and identifying positive personality traits.
Commit to writing in your journal for 5 minutes each day and to recording at least 3 things from your day that you are grateful for having experienced. If you do this for three months you will list out nearly 100 items that you are grateful for and you’ll create a wonderful keepsake journal in the process.
Add some fun and excitement to the mix and use the journal idea from above but this time invite your family to help complete each journal page. This is a shared, family-friendly summer journal keeping activity that is simply tons of fun.
My wish for you is that your entire family enjoy a safe and fun-filled summer. It is also my wish that you get to spend time together savoring the simple joys of life such as eating an ice cream cone, flying a kite or swimming at the lake.
Whatever you do for the summer, please be certain to slow down and enjoy the company of your loved ones. I encourage you to make this the best summer of your life and to keep a journal to document it!
Happy summer to you and yours. Until next time, journal on…
